Optimal position and velocity navigation filters for autonomous vehicles

چکیده
This paper presents the design and performance evaluation of a set of globally asymptotically stable timevarying kinematic filterswith application to the estimation of linearmotionquantities ofmobile platforms (position, linear velocity, and acceleration) in three dimensions. The proposed techniques are based on the Kalman andH∞ optimal filters for linear time-varying systems and the explicit optimal filtering solutions are obtained through the use of an appropriate coordinate transformation, whereas the design employs frequency weights to achieve adequate disturbance rejection and attenuation of the measurement noise on the state estimates. Two examples of application in the field of ocean robotics are presented that demonstrate the potential and usefulness of the proposed design methodology. In the first the proposed filtering solutions allow for the design of a complementary navigation filter for the estimation of unknown constant ocean currents, while the second addresses the problem of estimation of the velocity of an underwater vehicle, as well as the acceleration of gravity. Simulation results are included that illustrate the filtering achievable performance in the presence of both extreme environmental disturbances and realistic measurement noise. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Applications of Inertial Navigation Systems in Medical Engineering
Inertial navigation systems are of the most important and practical systems in determining the velocity, position and attitude of the vehicles and different equipment. In these systems, three accelerometers and three gyroscopes are used to measure linear accelerations and angular velocities of vehicles, respectively. By using the output of these sensors and special inertial algorithms in differ...

Marine Autonomous Vehicles, either Surface (ASV) or Underwater (AUV) are becoming the kingpin for ocean research and sea exploration. Long term and high persistence are highly desirable characteristics for adding to these autonomous platforms. The possibility of performing adequate tasks by using low cost underwater vehicles could multiply the number of agents in the area and therefore, providi...

A new methodology is proposed for the design of navigation systems for autonomous marine vehicles. Using simple kinematic relationships, the problem of estimating the velocity and position of an autonomous vehicle based on motion sensor data available at different rates is solved by resorting to complementary multirate time-varying filters. The set-up adopted for filter design and analysis buil...

Terrain-aided navigation is a potentially powerful solution for obtaining submerged position fixes for autonomous underwater vehicles. The application of terrain-aided navigation with high-accuracy inertial navigation systems has demonstrated meter-level navigation accuracy in sea trials. However, available sensors may be limited depending on the type of the mission. Such limitations, especiall...
متن کاملSpacecraft Localization via Angle Measurements for Autonomous Navigation in Deep Space Missions
This paper deals with spacecraft autonomous navigation in deep space missions. The considered problem is that of spacecraft localization based on angular measurements. The dynamic model of the spacecraft accounts for several perturbing effects, such as Earth and Moon gravitational field asymmetry and errors associated with the Moon ephemerides. The measurement process is based on elevation and ...
